Remember These Commercial Relics?

We all love North America's other favourite pastime, watching T.V. But I know we all hate those pesky Commercials. But let's not get to down on them. I have here some of the best or most classic commercials of all time!

So what does a cleaning device, an inconvenient wart, and a protection device have in common? Why, Kyocera commercials of course!

These were a trilogy of Kyocera commercials that promoted the idea that Kyocera cell phones had features that were easy to use, by comparing them to other phones. I laughed until I cracked a rib (not literally), This goes to show what a little imagination can do. In each of the three commercials, Kyocera owners comment that their phone is easy to use, while comparing them to wacky fictional cell phones.

These are commercials that will have you laughing again and again, and is an example of advertising that not only gets the message across, but entertains people as well. The comparisons made were a) robot phone b) vaccuum phone c) stun phone. Be warned, they can really infect your brain.

I admit, the "vaccuum messaging" commercial is probably the last one you would want to watch repeatedly, I can assure you, you will want to show the other videos to your friends over and over again. Hey, more hits for me if you do! Besides, how often do you see fully functonal tesla coils in the office?

The scary thing is, cell phone tasers are actually on the market. Not sure of Kyocera manufacturs any as of yet.

This is the one that started it all. The Tootsie Pop commercial. Heck, they were using edited forms of this commercial right into the mid-90's. By the time I was watching the telly as a kid, it was just the owl, and they cut out the part about the boy not being able to "stand a wise owl." But it still had the cheesy coloring and animation that makes me think the animators from Fritz the Cat (1972) were somehow involved, or maybe just that every cartoonist was a substance abuser at the time.

And I recently noticed as well, that kid has huge hips! Probably a side effect from a diet of orange-flavored sugar wrapped around chocolate flavored sugar.

This was just too cute, and infectous. I'm sure this one will be annoying after seeing it a dozen times, but right now, it's awesome. Two kids are getting their photo taken, and the photographer leaves the room to answer a phone, than the kids suddenly start er... the best way I can describe this is 'eyebrow breakdancing.' Amazing!

This little heartwarming advert was the first commercial Coca-Cola aired featuring the lovable computer generated polar bears. This advertising campaign began in 1993 and went on to the mid-2000's. cute heartwarming, seasonal and very politically correct, by removing any references to Santa or religion, and replacing "Merry Christmas" with "Season's Greetings" this has become more about celebrating winter than anything else.

Back in the 1950's modern advertising methods had yet to catch on. In the heyday of advertising, shows opted instead for 'product placements' in which the characters would use a sponsors product during the show, and talk about how great the product was. Just like this little gem from Season 1 of The Flintstones!

Similarly, I always loved it on the Abbot and Costello program when they would talk about "9 out of 10 doctors prefer to smoke Camels." I'm just guessing, but the 1 that didn't was probably some crazy quack who thought smoking caused cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung disease, pregnancy complications, and all sorts of other "weird" side effects.
